Garden Studio with bathroom built in West London

Posted on June 17, 2015June 17, 2015 by Garden Lodges
Stunning Garden Studio built in London
Stunning Garden Studio built in London

Garden Studio
Width: 4.90m
Depth: 6.10m
Height: 2.49m
External Area: 29.89m2

This recently completed Garden Studio in West London ticks all the right boxes for flexible use. A space for an office, relaxation area, en-suite shower room and also a storage room too. Complete with a pressure treated decked area at the front of the Garden Studio, perfect for sitting and catching the summer sun throughout the day.

The Garden Studio took around 4 weeks to complete, where we looked after all aspects of the build – Including the concrete slab foundations, construction and glazing, right through to the plastering, flooring and decoration. We even installed the electricity, bathroom suite, as well as connected up to the mains water and drainage system.

As the customer wanted a shower and toilet installed, this Garden Room required building regulations to be signed off by build control. The customer also chose to upgrade to engineered oak flooring which was laid in the living and bathroom areas.

Features such as aluminium bi-folding doors, a matching roof trim and natural Western Red Cedar timber cladding complete the modern look. Our customers are delighted with their new Garden Room. Scroll below to see our video, floor plan and more images…

Multi-Use Garden Office built in Hertfordshire

Posted on June 4, 2015June 8, 2015 by Garden Lodges

Flat roof Garden Office built by Garden Lodges
Flat roof Garden Office built by Garden Lodges

Garden Office
Width: 3.36m
Depth: 4.66m
Height: 2.49m
External Area: 15.65m2

A Garden Office suitable for a multitude of uses and doesn’t require planning permission were the main aims for the Muggleton family in Hertfordshire. So we designed a 15.65m2 Garden Room with a flat roof design and UPVC glazing, under 2.49m in height.

The Garden Room will be used as an office during the weekdays, so internet connection was vital. At weekends the Garden Room becomes a hangout for the Muggleton’s teenage son and daughter, so enough room for large comfy beanbags and wipe clean laminate flooring for any spills was also required.

The Garden Office is suitable for all-year use, as we construct all of our Garden Buildings using structurally insulated panels (SIPs) – keeping you warm in the winter and cooler in the summer months. For extra security, obscured glass was installed to the two casement windows to the side and rear of the Garden Room.

Our UPVC French doors and fixed frame windows that you can see either side of the entrance are also really insulated for both sound and to the elements. So if the teenagers decide to play loud music, it won’t bother the neighbours.

Al of our Garden Offices come fully plastered and painted in matt white emulsion as standard, as well as chrome down lights and finished in Western Red Cedar timber panels. Our prices are all-inclusive, so they include everything from the foundations, laminate flooring, decoration and the fitting of the electrics.

Watch the video below for a snap shot of this brand new Garden Office.

Non-Planning Garden Office – a Perfect Fit in West Sussex

Posted on May 21, 2015June 8, 2015 by Garden Lodges
Garden Office Horsham
Garden Office recently constructed in West Sussex

O-Line
Width: 2.48m
Depth: 2.48m
Height: 2.49m
External Area: 6.15m2 including recess

The Midwood family wanted a low-cost Garden Room to use as a Garden Office, which was built quickly so that they could use it as soon as possible to work in. The flat roof Garden Studio measures 2.48m x 2.48m and is under 2.49m, so in this instance, did not require planning permission.

The customer was interested in a standard non-planning range, particularly the O-Line model. Built in just 2 weeks, we looked after everything from the foundations to the construction, plastering, painting, lighting and laminate flooring.

We also installed the electric armoured cable and internet connection via a CAT 5 cable, which ran from the main home to the Garden Room. The Garden Office was large enough to fit an office desk, chair and storage unit, and still had enough space to fit in more furniture, if required.

Our prices include:

  • Foundations.
  • Construction using SIPs.
  • UPVC sliding doors.
  • Painted wood finish.
  • White gloss skirting boards.
  • White matt emulsion decoration.
  • Laminate floor.
  • RCD breaker.
  • Internal wall lights.
  • Single light switch.

Garden Studio with Sedum Roof Completed in Winchester

Posted on April 23, 2015October 6, 2015 by Garden Lodges
Garden Studio Winchester
Garden Studio with Sedum Roof completed in Winchester

We’ve just finished a stunning new Garden Studio in Winchester for a customer who wanted a flexible garden room, where they could use it as an arts and crafts room, reading room, garden office and even an extra guest room, if needed.

We worked alongside the customer’s garden landscaper so that the setting of the Garden Studio was also beautiful. Choosing a Western Red Cedar timber clad exterior was the best choice for the Garden Room to fit in with its natural surroundings.

Our customer chose to upgrade their glazing to aluminium and lighting to a wireless control. For extra insulation and an eye-catching, ecological design feature, we also fitted a Sedum roof which has many positive benefits.

Powder coated aluminium floor to ceiling and casement windows and bi-folding doors were installed to give a premium look and feel to the Garden Studio. Benefits of choosing aluminium door and window frames are that the joinery is extra strong and weather resistant compared to UPVC, as well as being more aesthetically pleasing.

Garden Studio used as an office

O-Line
Width: 3.68m Depth: 3.68m
Height: 2.49m
External Area: 13.54m2 including recess
Total Price: £11,623.40

We’ve just finished building an ‘Oslo’ Garden Studio for a creative customer in North London, who works from home as a Set and Costume Designer for the theatre. Our customer wanted a peaceful office to work in, with lots of natural light to inspire the mind.

Our customer wanted a Garden Studio which didn’t require planning permission, so chose a 3.68m x 3.68m size Oslo which was 2.49m in height. The space allows for a large desk and a chair, plus a storage cabinet, a large shelving unit and a cosy designer chair in the corner for visitors.

Garden Office

Our Standard Non-Planning Models come in a range of standard sizes and set prices, however all prices include:

  • Concrete pad foundations
  • External painted cladding in carious colours
  • 175mm structurally insulated panel (SIPs) walls
  • Interior decoration with matt white emulsion
  • White gloss skirting boards
  • Laminate flooring
  • Internal lighting
  • Doors
  • Light switch
  • Power points
  • RCD Breaker
  • Construction and fitting of electrics

Our customer chose a pastel blue external paint called ‘Speculum’, which looks amazing contrasted with the grey UPVC door frames. To heat the Garden Studio, the customer wanted us to fit an electric wall heater for an additional cost. He was surprised that it only took around 10 minutes for the Garden Studio to heat up on a cold and frosty morning.

Pilates Studio built for commercial use in Watford

Posted on February 24, 2015June 8, 2015 by Garden Lodges

Garden Lodge Pilates Studio
Commercial Traditional pitched Garden Lodge

Pilates Garden Lodge
Width: 7.30m
Depth: 5.25m
Height: 3.71m
External Area: 38.32m2

A customer we had previously built for a few years ago came back to us, because they wanted a larger Garden Building as their home Sports Therapy and Clinical Pilates business needed to expand into larger premises.

A 38.32m2 Traditional Garden Lodge was designed to incorporate around four large reformer Pilates machines and Pilates chairs. The new Garden Lodge Pilates studio means the customer can teach larger classes, whilst the high pitched roof and ceiling can accommodate the large exercise machines.

The Garden Lodge was built in around 4 weeks, which included the initial ground works and extending the concrete slab foundations, removal of the old Garden Studio, as well as the construction, installation of the electrics and full plastering, internal decoration and Western Red Cedar timber exterior.

Due to the size of the Garden Lodge, it required a Building Regulations Approval where a Building Control certificate is issued after the final inspection. However this extra cost isn’t always required if the building is less than 30m2 in size. As we had previously built for the customer, in order to keep costs down, they decided to keep their original windows and doors.

Overall, the new Garden Lodge is a fantastically large space, giving the customer a professional, commercial space for them and their clients to enjoy and exercise in comfortably. The floor to ceiling glazing means lots of natural light can filter in, giving a peaceful atmosphere to the Pilates studio.

Garden Studio built in South London

Posted on January 28, 2015January 28, 2015 by Garden Lodges

Studio
Width: 6.20m max
Depth: 4.20m max
Height: 2.49m
External Area: 23.04m2

Mr and Mrs Baker from South London first came to see us at Grand Designs Live 2014, where we spoke to them about our bespoke Garden Studios and service. Five months later their dream Garden Studio had been built and finished, ready for Mr Baker to use as a Garden Office.

The custom-designed Garden Studio measured 6.20m x 4.20m and was 2.49m in height, which meant planning permission wasn’t required. Mr Baker also chose to have an en-suite toilet and 2 separate storage units attached to the Garden Studio, so that he can store garden items such as a lawn mower.

The flat roof Garden Studio was clad in Western Red cedar timber panels and features a set of French grey UPVC doors and a fixed frame, floor to ceiling window, plus a small decked area outside. The Garden Studio was then fully plastered and decorated in matt white emulsion, with white gloss skirting boards. Mr Baker also chose to upgrade to hard-wearing, engineered oak flooring. In total the Garden Studio took around 3 weeks to complete, ready for the customer to start moving in.

Garden Music Room built in Central London

Posted on December 2, 2014October 6, 2015 by Garden Lodges

As part of our after care service, we complete a handover appointment with every customer to ensure their Garden Studio is perfect once the construction is finished. We visited the Marina family in Central London this week, who were just moving in to their brand new Garden Room.

The Marina family wanted a Music Room in the garden to fit in their electric drum kit, amplifiers, piano and guitars, but also wanted storage space to store gardening items too. As we manufacture and use our own 150mm thick structurally insulated panels (SIPs) for the structure of our Garden Rooms, the sound proofing properties are excellent, just right for home music rooms and recording studios.

The customer also took advantage of our special major technology upgrade offer, where we supplied and fitted the cables for the internet connection to the Garden Room, as well as a 32″ LCD television, sound bar and speaker system. Although we didn’t supply the beer fridge in the corner of the Garden Room, but we do agree, it does make a brilliant addition!

Mr Marina chose Garden Lodges over our competitors because we offer a bespoke and high quality service and product. He also liked the personal touches, such as the site survey appointment, where we spent time discussing his project design. Most of all, Mr Marina was really impressed with the quick installation, where he found it to be completely unobtrusive and stress free.

On completion, Mr Marina decided he wanted a decked area added to the outside of his new Garden Music Room, which we will be fitting for him at a later date. Keep your eyes peeled for more photos!

Garden Studio used as a snooker room in London

Posted on November 25, 2014October 6, 2015 by Garden Lodges

Garden Studio South London
We’ve just finished construction for a flat roof Garden Studio built in South London for the fantastic Parker family, where Mr Parker is using it as his ‘Man Cave’. The brand new Garden Room was designed to fit Mr Parkers snooker table and dart board, plus a fridge for refreshments and an en-suite toilet.

As the Garden Room is predominately used as a snooker room, to be able to take the weight of the snooker table, the floor was reinforced. We always suggest letting your Surveyor know about the use of your Garden Room during your site survey, so that we can take in factors such as reinforced flooring, if required.

Inside, the Garden Studio is fully plastered and painted with matt white emulsion. Down lights line the ceiling, with the lighting over the snooker table and dart board on a dimmer. The en-suite toilet features an eco-friendly compost toilet too, so no need for plumbing. Instead of electric wall heaters, we fitted an air conditioning/heater.

Externally, the Garden Studio has green aluminium doors and windows, which match the frames of the main home. The Studio is then cladded in natural Western Red Cedar, horizontal timber panels. The flat roof is covered with rubber EPDM, which has a life guarantee of around 50 years. The roof is then trimmed with a sleek aluminium roof trim.
