Garden Lodge in London

Donhead Lodge Exterior

Width: 9.00m
Depth: 5.00m
Height: 2.86m
External Area: 45m2

Donhead school was looking for a Garden Lodge to use as extra space for their students, and to have a relaxed area that combines the outside with the comfort of the indoors. The front of the annexe is fitted with a 3.2m wide bifold door, light fills the lodge making it bright and airy. The outside of the lodge is finished in our Western Red Cedar, this finish is one of our most popular.

This lodge has a considerably large interior at 40.01m2 used for lunchtimes, and the odd lesson. The interior is painted in white, with chrome down lights, plug sockets, and the laminate flooring has an oak finish. The school have made a few additions I.e emergency lighting etc, this would be to comply with regulations required for a school building.

Overall the lodge took just a few weeks to construct, a concrete slab was laid first, a slab was used here due to London clay soil conditions. Then the framework ( our own warehouse produced SIPs ) of the build would have been erected atop the slab, quickly and carefully put together by our professional build team.

The flat rubber EPDM-lined roof is then installed at a slight degree pitch to allow for rainwater drainage, and the windows and doors are fitted. Finally the walls are fully plastered, painted in matt white emulsion and the flooring is fitted. The electric and light fittings are also installed and tested. We always make sure to clear our on-site rubbish away, as well as give the new Garden Lodge a good clean before handing over the keys.

Garden Lodge in Winchester

chapman_3

Width: 7.00m

Depth: 4.00m
Height: 2.49m
External Area: 28m2

Our customers from Winchester went for this wonderfully styled Garden Room which has the 4.8m bifold doors on the front this allows light to pour into the spacious room. The customer wanted a garden room for extra space, simply for winding down and listening to music, and occasionally a little bit of guitar practice, whilst looking out onto the very inspiring and scenic Winchester landscape. The outside of the lodge is finished in our popular Western Red Cedar, with a matching decked area.

Inside the Garden Room they wanted a very open and bright room so the large 4.8m aluminium bi-fold doors allow for plenty of light and in the summer it will allow the room to really open up onto the great outdoors. Finished with a laminate flooring with oak finish, with chrome down lights, plugs and sockets.

Overall, the Garden Studio took just a few weeks to construct and didn’t require planning permission, due to its height and overall size. Concrete pad foundations are installed first, where the structurally insulated panels (SIPs), which make up the shell of the Garden Building, are fitted on top of timber bearers.

The flat rubber EPDM-lined roof is then installed at a slight degree pitch to allow for rainwater drainage, and the windows and doors are fitted. Finally the walls are fully plastered and painted in matt white emulsion and the flooring is fitted. The electric and light fittings are also installed and tested. We always make sure to clear our on-site rubbish away, as well as give the new Garden Room a good clean before handing over the keys.

Garden Lodge Built in North London

simunic_3Width: 5.00m
Depth: 3.50m

External Area: 17.5m2

This North London home houses a new garden lodge tucked away at the end of the garden. It is going to be used as an expansion of work space for the couple that own the lodge and space to relax in the garden in the evenings. The lodge is finished with vertically placed Western Red Cedar gives a rustic but modern style, the lodge sits between foliage which frames it well. The large doors and windows on the front of the lodge allow for light to fill the room, making it feel spacious and connected to the outside space.

The inside of the lodge has been painted in white, the furniture inside was supplied from us as part of the summer offer, this lodge includes a small store room for tools etc. The roof of the annexe is a sedum roof which boasts many extra beneficial qualities to the build and can provide an important micro-climate for birds insects and other possibly rare species.

The SIPs panels provide superior thermal performance which will last the life span of the building, and be cheaper to heat then a standard brick build.

The rubber EPDM-lined roof is installed at a slight pitch to allow for drainage, and the windows and doors are fitted. Finally the walls are fully plastered and painted with a matt white emulsion and the floor is fitted. light fittings are installed and electrics which is all tested. We clear the on-site rubbish as well as a clean up before the keys are handed over.

This is a comment from the new owner of the garden lodge:

“Hi Guys!

I want to take the opportunity to say a big massive thank you for our fabulous garden studio.

We are very, very happy with it and have received several compliments from our usual ‘troublesome’ neighbours as well as the many others!

Firstly though I would like to say what a huge impression Hayley had on us on Day 1.  Had it not been for her we would have gone with another company.  Her sheer enthusiasm and professionalism and joie de vivre left us with such a positive feeling that it left us with no choice but to use Garden Lodges.

Secondly, Vas and the team (workmen) – what a joy!  Never have I ever had the experience of such a hard working team.  Arriving promptly every day, extremely polite and very helpful.

Lastly, Andrea and Carol were very helpful in every way whenever I needed them.

All in all, a fantastic team and I certainly would not hesitate in recommending Garden Lodges to others.

Maybe in the future we will have to call on you again!

Thank you!”

Garden Lodge built in South London

Morgan_16

Width: 4.68m
Depth: 3.68m
Height: 2.49m
External Area: 17.22m2

This lodge makes a lovely addition to this home south London. It is going to be used as space for the owners childcare business, as well as extra space for family events and parties. Finished with vertically placed Western Red Cedar gives a rustic but modern style to the lodge and it compliments the space nicely as it fits with the wooden fence that runs along either side of the lodge. There is still some work to be done by the family as they plan to build some steps down to the lodge. The large doors and windows on the front of the lodge allow for plenty of light to fill the room, making it feel spacious and connected to the outside space.

The inside of the lodge has been painted in white, currently the lodge is quite empty but this is because it is going to be used for the owners business in childcare.

Concrete pad foundations are first installed, on top of that timber bearers holds up the structurally insulated panels or SIPs, make up the shell of the garden building. The SIPs panels provide superior thermal performance which will last the life span of the building, and be cheaper to heat then a standard brick build.

Garden Room with bathroom

Width: 6.20m
Depth: 3.10m
Height: 2.49m
Internal Height: 2.07m
External Area: 19.22m2

We’ve recently completed a Garden Room in West Sussex for a customer who wanted to have an extra guest bedroom conveniently in their back garden. The 19.22m2 Garden Studio is spacious enough to fit in a double bed, storage and a small table and chairs.

There is also an en-suite bathroom, complete with a double shower, toilet and wash basin.
The customer favoured the natural look of wood so chose our Western Red Cedar timber cladding for the exterior of the Garden Room.

As standard our prices also include laminate flooring, fully plastered and decorated walls, plus white skirting boards. For a modern look, the customer chose chrome downlights to be fitted within the interior and exterior of the Garden Building, which is connected to a dimmer switch.

The new Garden Room took just over 4 weeks to complete, where we looked after every aspect, from the design, foundations to the final interior decoration and installing the shower and sink.

Modern Garden Room built in Dorset

Garden Room in Dorset

Width: 4.90m
Depth: 3.00m
Height: 2.49m
Internal Height: 2.07m
External Area: 14.7m2

Our wonderful customers from Dorset wanted to achieve a stylishly simple Garden Room with high-quality finishes, to be used as an extra flexible space to the main home. To get this look, they chose our popular Western Red Cedar exterior finish, with a matching decked area for them to sit out on and use in the summer months.

Inside the Garden Room they wanted a sleek and modern finish, so they chose our contemporary grey laminate flooring colour and chrome downlights, switches and plug sockets. To achieve the look of expensive aluminium frame windows and doors without the high price tag, we advised to choose our grey UPVC option, cutting the cost significantly.

Overall, the Garden Studio took just 4 weeks to construct and didn’t require planning permission, due to its height and overall size. Concrete pad foundations are installed first, where the structurally insulated panels (SIPs), which make up the shell of the Garden Building, are fitted on top of timber bearers.

Depth: 6.10m
Height: 2.49m
External Area: 29.89m2

This recently completed Garden Studio in West London ticks all the right boxes for flexible use. A space for an office, relaxation area, en-suite shower room and also a storage room too. Complete with a pressure treated decked area at the front of the Garden Studio, perfect for sitting and catching the summer sun throughout the day.

The Garden Studio took around 4 weeks to complete, where we looked after all aspects of the build – Including the concrete slab foundations, construction and glazing, right through to the plastering, flooring and decoration. We even installed the electricity, bathroom suite, as well as connected up to the mains water and drainage system.

As the customer wanted a shower and toilet installed, this Garden Room required building regulations to be signed off by build control. The customer also chose to upgrade to engineered oak flooring which was laid in the living and bathroom areas.

Features such as aluminium bi-folding doors, a matching roof trim and natural Western Red Cedar timber cladding complete the modern look. Our customers are delighted with their new Garden Room. Scroll below to see our video, floor plan and more images…
